The interior brief was to create a contemporary design experience that would feel rooted within the home’s more local architectural language. The interior planning and material selection evolved alongside the architecture to ensure a seamless, cohesive experience throughout. The material palette is elegant yet understated. Grey Indian limestone appears in a variety of patterns and textures, balanced by the warmth of teak wood. In the courtyards, natural sand plaster coats the walls, revealing its texture as you move closer and inviting touch with its quiet, tactile richness. These materials reflect the terracotta and copper tones of the architecture, tying the indoors and outdoors together in a unified way.
This design approach carries through to the furniture, lighting, and artwork. The furniture is a mix of well-known international designs and custom pieces created by the studio for the home. Colourful artwork by celebrated South Asian artists brings energy and vibrancy to the muted interiors. These works not only add character, but also reflect the natural surroundings through their colours, textures, and subject matter. This further strengthens the connection between indoors and out.
The project was a true collaboration: architecture shaped the experience from the outside in, while the interiors and finishes considered it from the inside out—coming together to form a layered and immersive living environment.
