Located on Altamount Road in Mumbai, this apartment interior reimagines a 1960s residence defined by its distinctive waffle-slab ceilings. Originally laid out as a three-bedroom home, the plan was reconfigured into two bedrooms and a flexible family room that can convert into a third bedroom in the future. The apartment’s living, dining, and lounge spaces, flow together in a partially open plan, allowing an uninterrupted view across the width of the home.
The original balcony was extended to create a generous outdoor area, a rare feature in a building where most families have enclosed their balconies. The dining room serves as both a place for gathering and working, featuring a concealed bar that, when open, reveals a handcrafted micro-mosaic from Rajasthan.
An understated yet warm material palette anchors the design—burma teak wood, soft cream limestone flooring, and subtle brass detailing. The furnishings and art reflect a thoughtful mix of Indian and international influences, creating a home that is both rooted and contemporary.
